Dr. Eric Axelrode

Dr. Eric Axelrode received his B.A. in economics from U.C. Santa Cruz. He received his DDS from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. Dr. Eric completed a year of general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Portland Oregon, treating medically compromised patients. He practiced general dentistry in Oakland and San Pablo for three years prior to completing his orthodontic residency at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. During his residency he earned his certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry. Dr. Eric brings a unique approach in delivering excellent orthodontic care while understanding first hand the needs of the general dentist.

Dr. Eric and his wife, Monica, have two children, Jean-Luc and Leah. He is a native of Orinda and graduated from Miramonte High School. After studying in various places, he wanted to return to his roots to raise a family. Dr. Eric and his family live in Moraga, and enjoy being part of the community both personally and professionally. He enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, skiing and traveling.

Dr. Mark Axelrode

Dr. Mark Axelrode received his B.A. in biology from U.C. San Diego. He received his DDS from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco where he was elected to the dental honor society, and attended UCLA for his orthodontic residency where he earned his certificate and Master of Science in Oral Biology. Dr. Mark has been practicing orthodontics since 1994, and enjoys providing outstanding care to his patients.

Dr. Mark is the proud father of three children: Samuel, Brigitte and Angelique. In his free time, Dr. Mark can be found on the golf course, skiing or spending time with his family.

Dr. Ryan Gaw, DDS

Dr. Ryan Gaw, DDS, received his undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from University of California, Santa Clara. Dr. Gaw completed his dental degree at UCLA School of Dentistry. He attended the NYU Langone Health San Francisco Program and earned his AEGD Certificate. Dr. Gaw completed his orthodontic residency at Roseman University of Health Sciences.

Dr. Gaw was inspired to pursue orthodontics through his own personal orthodontic journey. As a child he was self conscious about his teeth and rarely smiled. Dr.Gaw’s orthodontic passion and unwavering commitment to helping him attain a healthy, beautiful smile provided the motivation for him to dedicate his profession to transforming smiles and providing patients with the self esteem to achieve their dreams.

Dr. Gaw values effective communication in orthodontics and patient care. Ensuring that patients feel heard and fully understand their treatment plans is critical. Dr. Gaw was a college TA and enjoys teaching, particularly patient education. He firmly believes that equipping patients with knowledge enriches their experience and improves their outcomes.

In his free time, Dr. Gaw enjoys playing basketball, spending time with friends and family, skiing, traveling, and trying out new food places!

We have been coming to Axelrode Orthodontics for many years. I have 3 children who each needed 2 phases of orthodontic treatment due to crowding and bite issues. The doctors here are always great. They patiently explain everything and never rush the process, making sure everything is as perfect as possible. All of the assistants are great too, especially Jona. She is always the favorite for my kids because she engages with them and she is always gentle and kind.
